Thanks Stang, I think you are right, it does appear to bear a striking resemblance to our fish. Will see if we can get another few to keep him company. :)

Thanks SJ2K, but having had a look at that link I don't think it is a Glowlight Tetra. The fish we have is much smaller than the description given on that site and doesn't have a stripe. He is completely red apart from the dorsil fin which is part black.

He is about a cm in length, about a year old, has a half black half red dorsil fin, and is a deeper red than he appears in the photo's below. He / she hasn't grown at all since we have had him and I assume he scavenges uneater food at the bottom of the tank as I have never seen him eat. On...
