anyone have any experience with these filters? I checked mine on my last partial water change I noticed that the filter was flooding and pouring out of the top, so I removed the filter pad and noticed that it was bulging and has covered in all I can describe as slime. Swishing it around in...

just tested my tank water and am just now starting to show signs of nitrite, the water in the test kit wasn't blue (0ppm) but was just approaching the 2nd color down on the test chart, still no ammonia though

last time I took a sample to my LFS, they said that my levels were good, they didn't mention what they were, but they did use an api master kit and got the same results I'm getting now :blink: I'll test again later today and really beat the dickens out of that second bottle for the nitrite test...

so far I've been doing partial water changes, not quite a gallon, every other day and checking my ammonia/nitrite/nitrate daily since as you said, it's a smaller tank and yes, it's filtered, running a Marina i25 filter

So, I've had my 2.5 gallon tank up and running for almost 2 weeks now with 3 small guppies in it. I initially had a bacteria bloom, which has cleared up, finally, but now when testing my water with the api master kit, I'm showing 0ppm in ammonia, nitrate, and nitrite. Is there anything I can...

just checked my water again, and still 0ppm ammonia, 0ppm nitrate, and 0ppm nitrite, beginning to wonder if this little 2.5 gallon will even cycle. On a good note, my water is now 99% crystal clear :D

it's a small tank and easy to move, I've got it in my entertainment center, so I have to carry it to the kitchen to do my water changes :rolleyes: I plan on checking my levels every other day or so, they haven't been an issue lately and it gives me something to do ;)

okay, vacuumed my gravel, ended up doing a 25% water change, let the filter run for a good 1/2hr and then tested my water, and guess what?! I have 0ppm ammonia, 0ppm nitrite and 0ppm nitrate! Anything else I need to do? I'm going to assume that I'm good to go?

got my master test kit this afternoon, ammonia is at 0.25ppm and nitrite is at 0ppm, also got a gravel vacuum and will be cleaning my gravel tomorrow morning since I have to work in 1/2hr :rolleyes:

so other than daily partial water changes to keep the ammonia level down, what can be done? I'm going to assume that the ammonia won't be a problem once the tank has cycled

I don't see how I could have that much excessive ammonia in the water if I've only been using poland spring water and daily partial water changes of 30%-40%. The tank had run for a week with no fish and was crystal clear, but only got cloudy on the 2nd day of adding my 3 tiny guppies, but...
