    Pictus Catfish

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but Pictus catfish, while fairly small, need to have quite a bit of swimming room and plenty of hides. I'm not sure that a 38g is a large enough set up for them. You're right in planning to buy a small group as they're schooling fish, but the fact that they...

    Rocks and gravel from Walmart?

If the gravel is actual aquarium gravel, and by a recognized manufacturer, I don't see a problem with it. I sometimes buy food, water treatments, and decor at Walmart if I'm there already, if they actually have a brand I'll use, and don't want to take the time to order online or make another...

55 gallon stock list- good or bad?

I would probably advise against the Blue Acara at all. Acaras are only mildly aggressive cichlids, while JDs, Convicts, And Salvinis are fairly aggressive. The Acara wouldn't be a happy fish. Likewise, I would advise against the Jewel. Beautiful fish, I know. But, they prefer to be in pairs...

Newly cycled 125l tank stocking advice

IT Isn't always a question of maxing out the filter's capabilities (larger filters can always be installed), but instead, often a question of how many fish can comfortably cohabitate within a certain space, and whether said fish can thrive in the same water parameters, tank environment, etc. If...

    Uncycled, fish seem ok?

If they haven't shown any signs of distress thus far, I think you're safe. I Would, however, begin testing your water regularly. Many people use a simple strip that tests PH, Nitrate, Nitrite, and hardness, but I don't believe their overly accurate. I prefer the API Master Test Kit, which tests...

I hope that I'm not breaking any rules (if I am, would someone please let me know and accept my apologies) by telling you that Trophs.com is a very good site, dedicated to all things Tropheus.

    Potential Stocking idea

Green Terrors grow to about 8" and aren't as aggressive as the name implies, except to conspecifics. IMO, any of your stocking plans should be ok. If you decide to do the Green Terror and the Jack, you'll want to create a layout so that each can claim a separate territory.

    72 Gallon Stock?

You're a bit overstocked, yes. Definitely rehome the goldfish. Comets can quickly get to 10" +. A couple other points in your stock would concern me as well, sorry. Denison's barbs (Roselined sharks) can get to about 6" and prefer larger groups, though you can probably get by with 3. Your...

    Uncycled, fish seem ok?

Normally, fish should do well almost immediately after being added to your tank. It sometimes take a few hours for them to become accustomed to new surroundings. I would be a bit concerned that you didn't do a long enough cycle before adding fish, however. Did you test your water prior to adding...

Hello. We live in the central U.S. on about 10 acres, near Omaha, NE.
