    Is This Fin Rot?

I see no sign of rot.  The damage appears to be from him biting his fins.  The color change doesn't appear to be anything to worry about either.  Most bettas carry the marble gene which means that they can change color (sometimes very dramatically) really quickly.   Just some FYI -- your betta...

    Sick Betta And Algae

First off -- in a tank of that size with no filter -- you will need to be doing water changes much more often than every 10 days.  Every other day of around 50% is much more preferable.  A filter is not required for a betta and in a tank of this size it is debatable whether it would even be...

    Very Fat Betta

What are your water parameters?   How big is the tank and how often/how much are your water changes?  What is the temperature of the tank water?     In general for this much bloating -- the recommendation is at least 3 days of fasting.  Then after the 3 days are up, if the fish's belly has gone...

    I Think I Want A Betta ;-)

Since you are over in the UK, check out The Fish Hut by Colin Dunlop (probably easiest to find on FB).  He has some really nice bettas almost all the time as well as some interesting and hard to find other varieties of fish.   :)

    Just Some Starting Advice

Otos would most likely not survive in that tank for long. They are very peaceful no aggressive and small which means they are will be targets for the cichlids.  Plus there is very little of that algae in the tank presently that they would even eat.   +1 to Byron's advice.  :)

    Live Food Options?

What kind of fish are you wanting to feed?  There are plenty of live food options to culture.  Grindal worms, white worms, confused flour beetles, blackworms, daphnia, wingless fruit flies, nemotodes(microworms/banana worms/walter worms), vinegar eels, scuds, and springtails are some good choices.

Can Damaged Betta Fins Grow Back ?

I don't see anywhere that the OP stated that the betta will be added to a tank with other fish.  Even if for some reason the OP did add the betta in with other fish, adding an antibiotic without a sure reason to do so(like clear signs of a bacterial infection), is not a good idea.

    Emergency Advice Needed!

In this particular case, the OP has the betta in an unfiltered hospital tank doing large(up to 100% water changes). In this case - the bacteria probably wouldn't have a chance to take a hold anyway.  Hospital tanks are best set up without a filter and maintained with larger water changes.  ...

    Haven't Treated Drift Wood

Did the shop tell you WHY it had to be treated?   The brown colored water is not harmful at all and most fish actually like/benefit from the tannins leaching from the wood.  Removing the wood and boiling it will help with the tannins but most wood will leach for a long time.  To remove it from...

Can Damaged Betta Fins Grow Back ?

Fins grow back quite easily as long as the betta is kept healthy and the water is in good condition.  Nice warm clean water with good food normally is all that is needed.  The good thing is the damage looks like it was caused by tearing or even possible fin biting and not fin rot.      No need...

    Basically Another Betta Caresheet

There are a couple things not quite correct in your post.  The replies in red are more recommended information(for both quoted posts).   My Bettas live on mostly frozen and live food.   If you do feed pellets I would suggest Atisons, New Life spectrum and Omega.   When it comes to setting up a...
