    Shallow Tank

Thanks. I know fish. And inverts. Moving to turtles and axolotl would require a bit of a switch. I’m tweaking, and going with custom tank with 12 inch height.

    Shallow Tank

Don’t have another good place. I’m sitting on a 50, but just don’t have an appropriate location. A key is access to sink, since it simplifies cleaning. yep. That’s what I started thinking. So focusing on 48, 12, 12. I’ve got about just under 20 inches total, so that leaves room to make...

    Canister for river tank

Going for SA river feel. Cory, Otto’s, dwarf cichlids. Looking for gentle current, one end to other.

    Canister for river tank

Planning a gentle river tank. 48, 12, 12. Will canister filter provide enough flow by itself if the in and out are on opposite ends? How much gph? 30 gallons. Will 200 be enough for length? Do I need to add powerhead?

    Shallow Tank

It would be counter level. There is a cabinet above, hence the height restriction.

    Shallow Tank

I have a space with more horizontal vs vertical space. 12-14 inches max height, to allow easy access. I am looking at a 36x18x10 tank. What would be the main disadvantages for a tank that height? Has anyone used a ‘breeder tank’ as it were a normal one? I am thinking a nice ‘river’ tank...

How to be successful with Serpae Tetras

I appreciate the feedback. And positive talk about oft-maligned Serpae Tetras. I’m curious to hear other opinions of success that they have had with other species. I do still find the talk about mismatch with Pygmy Cory interesting as mine have gotten along well. I have not seen any bullying...

How to be successful with Serpae Tetras

I’ll see how the numbers work. Interesting on the pygmies. I haven’t had problem with them. I attributed to them being more active, and faster. I found the Serpae going into all nooks and crannies, hence the problem with the bigger Cory. They really don’t leave any corner unexplored. I’ll...

How to be successful with Serpae Tetras

My Pygmy cory have no problem with the serpae. Do quite well. With the full size Cory and neons, I suspect they were stressed. I have red other sources about this as well, that neons are not great tankmates.

    New here

Hi everyone. I am new here. I've been keeping fish for the last three years (due to pressure from my son) and learning a lot. I have had multiple setups, starting with a 29 gallon Betta/Sword setup, that transitioned to moving the betta to its own 10 gal and moving in Serpaes that moved out...

Are these Amano shrimp or did I get ripped off?

    Cute, but definately not Amano.

How to be successful with Serpae Tetras

I am new here, but was reading a lot of posts about Serpae Tetra negatives and warnings, and wanted to share my experience and provide a different view. That they are a * community tank fish. There is the asterisk. First, I learned the hard way. In a 29 gal planted tank, I dropped 6 Serpaes in...
