    HELP - loaches much worse

I really need to get the loach out sooner than three or four days. Would an undergravel filter not do a good enough job. I have seen quarantine tanks in lfs with same filter system. Please excuse if this is a silly question, still new to all this.

    HELP - loaches much worse

Can anyone tell me how to safely clean and sanitise a very small (17.5'' x 10''x10'') aquarium which has been donated by my mother as a quarantine tank. It has an undergravel filter system and i just need a heater (which kind is best for this size?) the aquarium has been used to keep rescued...

    HELP - loaches much worse

If he survives the night, i might do that. All the other fish in the tank are fine. Reason for isolating is because I wanted to add some salt, but i have catfish, cories and a plec that apparently do not tolerate it.

    HELP - loaches much worse

They don't look too inflamed, just moving fast. Whole loach has pale areas. Can't isolate until tomorrow. I need to get a heater for qtank. Do you think this is an option or given his condition, leave him where he is?

    HELP - loaches much worse

Thanks jollysue. Have decided to stick with this treatment, although strong stuff, has been recommended by a few people. I do not think i have anything to lose apart from more fish of course, but the stess from waiting and then changing treatment might make things worse anyway. I do have an...

Help! Sterazin doesn't seem to be working!!

I have had enormous problems with white spot in my tank for over one week now, as you will see from my postings "Bad case of ick" and "HELP - Loaches much worse". I have been treating with WS3, Malachite Green being the active ingredient. My corys have also been doing a lot of flicking on the...

    Fish

Its completely different . I have two cats that i obviously interact with. But looking into the tank and watching fish is like looking into another world. They all have their own personalities and habits. It's like having your very own soap show in your living room. Better than Emmerdale anyday...

"A gallon a day, keeps the vet away"

Again have to agree, all my fish do exactly the same thing. Even the ghost catfish which usually spend daylight hours hovering at the back of the tank, only becoming active at night. After water change, it is ace to actually be able to see them zipping around obviously happy. They even feed better.

    Advice on cruelty to fish

I also have had similar experiences, especially with one well known pet chainstore. They seem to latch on to inexperienced novices like myself (only started in March ahh!) and sell anything e.g I have a four inch sailfin plec in a 96l tank. Had no idea how big he will eventually get. Sales asst...
