Tap water containment, store quality, or something else?

So, you're saying I just got unlucky and it's not my tank that's at fault. But if they were stressed from shipping wouldn't they have died sooner?

Tap water containment, store quality, or something else?

Never mind I found another empty snail shell. After all my efforts snails are still dying. I only have one left. Is it possible my tank is infected with TB and I should just quit the hobby since all my aquatic life is expected to die early?

Tap water containment, store quality, or something else?

They are babies, but I'm not sure if those were from the dying platies or the ones I already have. They don't have white poop. They were fat for about 5 days before death. I did treat with bacter shield, not sure if that would help with deworming. I can take a video, but there's not really a...

Tap water containment, store quality, or something else?

I got the snails from an online seller. They were fine until about 4 months in, when I started doing more water changes as my nitrates were getting too high

Tap water containment, store quality, or something else?

At first my snails were dying off one by one. Once I learned there was copper in my tap water, I added GAC to the tank, and I haven't lost anymore snails yet. However still losing platies. It might just be that they were extremely bad quality since I got them from PetSmart. They both had big...

    Losing a snail everyday

Wait, I think I might've figured it out. Which would also explain why my plants are melting despite adding fertilizer the day before. Look at the copper levels of my city water. And my dad confirmed that we don't have a water filtration system. I was doing water changes nearly every day as I...

    Losing a snail everyday

Nope, already tested the nitrates of my tap and it comes out as zero. Tank temp is 75. I have bought them online as I figured it would be the best place to get them since I don't have a local fish store.

    Losing a snail everyday

A platy pregnant platy just dropped dead out of nowhere. Like I said, I've only had the snails for 4 months. And I've been finding the snails shells intact. I started treating with bacter shield, which stopped the deaths for a day but I didn't add it today because the instructions say to add it...

    Craziest fish sold at Petco/Petsmart

I mean I love angelfish, but I know my limit in size of fish I can keep is 3 inches because I don't have a big enough tank for bigger fish.

    Losing a snail everyday

Every day for the past three days I have been losing a mystery snail. My nitrates were very high (40 ppm) so I've been doing water changes every day to get them down. Now it's at 5ppm and still losing snails. The only symptom they have before dying is that they turn greyish. Still active, still...

    Craziest fish sold at Petco/Petsmart

Common goldfish are sold in nearly every pet store, but there's really no need for them to be. They are often sold as a feeder fish, but they aren't even a healthy feeder choice. And the average aquarist can't handle/don't want a common goldfish. Those with big ponds typically aren't looking to...

Have I done everything I needed to do?

Okay, the situation's not as dire as I thought. Turns out the test strips are expired. I didn't realize they could expire. I know my test kit isn't expired as those bottles don't expire until 2027. My real nitrates are 20 ppm, which is an improvement from how bad they were before. I actually...
