Female. In males the first one or two spines of the dorsal fin are noticeably longer.

Dont know about pics but this is a good link... http://fish.mongabay.com/apistogramma.htm I'd add some Catappa leaves as well. Think they'd look pretty good and help you get the water right too.

Normal Angels it may be then :lol: I've never in my life had an adult Angel thats too tall for an 18" high tank. And I've kept and bred plenty

Thanks :good: My potential 48"x15"x18" just might do the job then. Sorting out my other tanks at the moment and Altums are a fish I've pretty much always wanted, so figured I'd ask. I'd even consider 'normal' Angels for the tank. Cheers for the link.

Cheers mate. I'd got the basics down but I was just interested to find out how others keep them. Rather than how they should be kept, if that makes sense. A lot of the info available is conflicting, so I was looking for owners etc. :good:

Just wondered if any of you guys keep Altums? If so, would you be able to post details of your set ups please? Googl provides me with care guides etc but I'd like to know what the people say who currently keep them. Cheers :good:
