The platties are very hardy, we managed to save over 20 fry, in a seperate tank. They are now well grown and are all females, these are the ones that have to go ( some of them. ours hid in the plants and rocks.

hi, i'm near Bristol. does anyone want some yellow ( calico? ) platties. They are over 12 weeks old. All females very nice healthy fish. I haven't got room for them all Thanks

just checked the tap watr for nitrate level it is just over 25. we have a 70 litre tank. 2 black mollies, 4 lemon tetra, 2 dwarf honey gourami, 2 small catfish,6 assorted platties, now 3 guppies. tank has been set up since jan this year. lots of live plants.

well sadly the guppy died, it must have been dropsey. :-( we did a water change again and have just tested the water. nitrite now 0 ammonia now 0 nitrate now 50 do i need to change more water tomorrow. the rest of the fish look fine. :o

o.k will do a water change now and will never wash my sponge out in tap water again.

nicole, now i really am sorry it is the scales and not the fins. so he must have dropsey. i feel really bad because i thought that we were looking after them o.k. i will do another water change tomorrow. the poor guppy is only in a tiny tank with no heater or filter, does he have to stay in...

Hi, can anyone please help, one of my guppys has got very bloated and the fins are sticking out a bit, it is still eating and swimming around. i have taken it out the main tank and put it in a mall one. i have just done a water change.

Hi, can anyone help. some of my fish are not well,we found a dead platie this morning,then one of our catfish was swimming upside down, did a water test and all is ok. now a tetra is swimming a bit odly. then after about 10 mins they are ok. is it the weather, we did a water change today.

:nod: wow after moving the platys to a new 19ltr tank ( 2 fish ) because they were getting stressed in the main tank after giving birth and losing them all. When cleaning the filter about 3 weeks ago i found 1 live fry in there, we put it into a breeder net in the small tank it is growing well...

thanks i have moved the platys to a new tank, lots of weed cover even if they are fake, the fish look lots more relaxed and me :nod:

thanks sunniesun, one of my girls looks quite fat so i might move her into the tank,if she does have any more fry i haven't got any where to keep them when grown, what do you all do with them. :whistle:
