Sorry. It's a Geophagus Jurupari... So far the Parrott has not bothered the Geo -they are about the same size and the Geo was there for about 2 months before the parott showed up. If the parrot gets feisty, i could always bring him back to my LFS. But Its only been 3 days.

I cant believe how helpful eveyone on here is. Thanks a million. I'll be sure to keep everyone posted when i get my new tank. I oredered off ebay today and i'm going down to brooklyn to pick it up late this week, early next week.

Perhaps some one can help de-mystify the common terms and applications of various types of aquatic lighting. I know of flourescent and halide. Are there other types? What benifits does one have as compared to the other?

I saw trumpet snails sold online 10 for a dollar. Sounds pretty cheap to me. If you giving them away, Ill take some too :)

like i said before, my LFS guy has a thing about adding salt all the time. Says its good for reducing stress. Improves gill function etc.etc.... But why put addititives in that i dont need? To switch gears a little. Ive never used a water conditioner before. I hear that they are essental...

Can anyone suggest a freshwater burrowing snail that can coexist with a ghost knife and some geophagus?

what kind of puffers do you have? If you have 2 in a 5 gal. then I should be able to keep one or two in a 10 gallon right??

I didnt know this. THat explains why my ghost knife looks particularly unhapy when I add salt who would'a thought
