Hey guys. as I was going to work this mornign i noticed out on someone's front lawn (it was trash day) there was a giant hex tank. So I picked it up.
Anyway, I just wondered if anyone else had interesting stories related to finding a fish tank or getting it free?
My two different type of Corydoras did not school. I had two Aeneus Cory Catfish and an alibino Aeneus Cory Catfish and they didn't school. The albino would sit off by himself all day and not shoal with the other fish. I took the albino back to my LFS and got another Aeneus Cory Catfish...
Just this morning I go to feed my fish (1/2 hour after the light turns on or so) and three male-looking Danios and a female-looking danio were at it. I google'd around and didn't find anything of interest. Does anyone know the mating ins and outs of the Danio? They just seemed to form a ball...
I would get a Pleco. I am partial to the bushy-nosed pleco. I would make sure that you get one that doesn't get very big. It just so happens that my LFS has bushy-nosed and rubber-nosed plecos. Ask your fish-store dude on the max size or get the name and Google it.
When you change the water while its cycling you will just make your cycle last longer. It takes two different types of bacteria to cycle a tank, and depending on how long the tank has been sitting it can take awhile to cycle it. All you can do is wait for the nitrite bacteria to eat it up.
I cycled a 30 gallon tank with 4 zebra danios (not the long finned variety). I changed the water once a week (15%). Keep in mind that if you change that the more you change the fish water the longer it takes to cycle. Thats what i've been told anyway...
