I used 40 pounds of it in my 55g. I was rinsing for about an hour or more before I felt comfortable with putting it in my tank. Its a heavy sand and settles rather quickly. I still found it turned my water black but after a day of running the filter it was as clear as crystal.

Congrats on making the cover. Thats an amazing pic. That Fish Place has a store about an hour away from me up in Lancaster, Pa. All the staff are very well informed and the staore is HUGE. They carry just about everything you can imagine.

That thing had to be very old. Its good to know it lived a very long time and in passing was able to supply a meal to many many villagers.

Any of the julidochromis species will be good in a tank that size. They maintain very small territories and should be fine in that tank.

I keep both together and they get along fine. My JD is about a year old and the GT has been added about 4 months ago. They both have outstanding personalities. They are always together never being on one side of the tank without the other.
