    Mean Zebra Danios (yellow)

I don't have any goldfish ;). I meant that these danios are a gold color... they are more yellow though. Definitely not a tinge though, they are completely yellow from head to fin... the glofish are also danios (ie., not goldfish ;)) When all this started I had 7 danios, but they were all...

    Stocking Suggestions Please :-)

rdd, I totally agree about the plants maybe not being aquatic, I really don't know what killed them all - it could have been a number of factors. I will definitely ask for results of the tests at the LFS. Hopefully my new liquid tests will come soon as well. Puff - I wouldn't do anything to...

    Stocking Suggestions Please :-)

Maybe the nitrates are low now because of recent heavy water changes? I was doing 50% twice a day up until a few days ago, b/c the nitrites were so terribly high. I stopped the water changes b/c the nitrites weren't rising anymore, and I keep checking to see if they will go up like they were...

    Mean Zebra Danios (yellow)

Of course, I'll just take them back! LOL, I didn't even think of that. I have the receipt here - i just got them a few days ago. So how do you avoid this? or do you? I thought danios were so passive :(. these fish are awful!!!

    Stocking Suggestions Please :-)

No, it's the same coming out of the tap. We have a water softener, so maybe that's why. I turned it down by 75% a few days ago though so hopefully the GH will not be so low at some point. it's 0 now. It seems to take quite awhile for a change in the softener to cycle through the water...

    Stocking Suggestions Please :-)

Would love some help from the experts! I have a 20 gallon tank. Here's my water test results, for what it's worth: Soft: very KH: 300 ppm pH: about 8 tank appears to be cycled now - nitrates, ammonia, and nitrites have been remained 0 since last water change several days ago. Here's what's...

    Mean Zebra Danios (yellow)

Ok, that ziplock trick is a good idea, I will do that. I'm getting a heater for the spare tank tomorrow. As for danios, I have 1 black/white zebra that looks like he is going to die any minute - his tail is gone and he's swimming into the glass :(, a yellow glofish, an orange glofish, .... oh...

    Mean Zebra Danios (yellow)

Help! I got two zebra danios (long-fin, yellow - not glow yellow, just regular yellow or maybe gold?) and they are picking on and killing my fish! they killed one of my glofish last night. My 3year old was devastated - it was a pink one and she loves pink. I separated the meanest one but...

    Boneheaded Newbie Mistakes

I got the betta in his own tank yesterday but not before he went on a killing spree and killed two fish :(. He's much happier alone now I think. The fish in the main tank are happy too, they can finally go to the forbidden side of the tank ;). We restocked the tank to replace the ones he...

    Boneheaded Newbie Mistakes

All but 2 of my plants were purchased in dried bulb form from WalMart (ugh, sorry). Some came up like long grass, some just long leaves. They came up right away but didn't survive past about 3 inches. Another one was a fern looking plant that died. There is one doing very well, it's a tall...

    Boneheaded Newbie Mistakes

Ok, so after the two 50% WC's yesterday, nitrite was .5 when I went to bed and the same when I got up this morning, so I skipped the morning change. This evening it is still .5, so I didn't change this evening either. I'll change it before I go to bed tonight, regardless, but I'm hoping maybe...

    Boneheaded Newbie Mistakes

Oh it definitely uses salt to soften - I refill it every month. I hope it's not too bad for them :(. We can't not use the softener... I can turn it down but not using it is killer on my household. The water here is just so hard. Poo.

    Boneheaded Newbie Mistakes

B)-->QUOTE(Lynda B @ Jul 20 2007, 02:49 PM) 1699073 You may find that you have a problem keeping your male betta in there. They will snap at anything that has bright colors or long flowing fins. I'd move him to his own little tank (2 gallons or more). I have zebra danios (aren't they fun!) and...

    Boneheaded Newbie Mistakes

LOL! Well I was close, hehe. That's what I ordered from Ebay - API Freshwater test kit Master test. Thanks Phoenix! So I should just continue w/ twice a day water changes till everything is zero then. It's not so bad... just takes a few minutes. It'll be nice when I don't have to do it...
