    Guppy Birth

I put mine if a nanny net. A separate tank? I don't know. The stress of a different water environment might not help. I don't know. But, a nanny net, aka mesh breeder, worked for me.

    The Nitrogen Cycle

You and I have spoken, oh wait, we have not spoken, about dehydrated tubifex worms. Taenia proglottids get transmitted in poop - I'm also a member of a Marine Biology consortium and the current thing is how certain protozoan pests manage to migrate to fresh water fish from shore birds - hint...

    Guppy Birth

For me, it was a matter of watching the comfort of the pregnant female. When the other fish in the started to pester the pregnant guppy, and she would spend all of her time looking for places to hide, I would sequester her. There might be a better way to do it. But, this has worked for me.

    The Nitrogen Cycle

    True.

    The Nitrogen Cycle

That was the point. If anyone thinks that they'd like to know more about this, this graphic might give them the vocabulary and launching pad to investigate more. I didn't mean to insult anyone. But, really...I am currently a member of some 17 different aquarium groups and the largest number...

    The Nitrogen Cycle

Or, some of us, well me, syphon everything out and rely upon the fact that we save tank water to clean out the innerds of the filter. I don't know. It's a mixed bag. I had a 20 gallon community fresh water tank in 1965 with live plants. It was a ton of work. I loved it but at 10 years old...

    The Nitrogen Cycle

It covers a lot of questions! And, it's a graphic which means that it is going to appeal to folks who like maps.

    The Nitrogen Cycle

Let's try this one more time. I don't worry much about this but I have a background in biology, zoology and botany. I have a basic fish keeping book with this graphic. It might help.

    Pregnant platy

If I remember what the platys that I had several decades ago would do and want, it might be seqestering. If you've got a nanny net (mesh breeder) or a lot of decorations and plant that will give the little gal some privacy that might help.

    Floating Plants

I have been thinking the same thing. I had live plants many decades ago in a larger tank. But, I see unexplained ammonia spikes in my tanks and wonder if that nitrogen fixing thing (nitrogen cycle) which happens with plants might help. So far, I've just done a ton of incremental water...

    Mollies With Tapeworms

OK. So, now that I've have the girls (beautiful mollies, since mid to late January) I(after treatments that would probably cause me to lose my hair (I've got a LOT of hair) am looking at the third week of Prazentiquel. The proglottids showed up for the first time since about 4 days ago again...

How Soon Can You Add Snails?

So snails are a thing now. I've been seeing this for the past year on other fish forums. I have to say, I didn't add snails to my very first tank until the algae got to be too much for the asian stone (miniature) catfish and Plecostomus. Then, I got 'snails.' I never knew the breed - we got...

My luck finally ran out (ich)

This may or may not be Ich. The deal with Ich is that you see 10 spots one morning, 24 hours later you see 2000. I don't know. Have you considered the possibility that this might be fungus, another form of Ich aka Epistylis, or the beginning of another protozoan? If I were you, I'd...

    Pregnant molly?

I believe that this is what I was saying. The only way you can know with livebearers is to keep a fry alone until maturity. Right now, I have two female guppy fry, both nearing 3 months, the two brothers died two months ago, and one of the females looks pregnant. If the fish have no other...
