I have a Vecton 2 400 and have been very pleased with it. Tank water clarity has been amazing. It is large and I would expect the 600 to be larger still. This gave problems with the instructions which said to mount it horizontally! The cabinet for my Rena 120 was way too small for that and I...
Haven't had this problem with a tank filter but had a disaster of that sort with an external box filter on my first pond. It had a gravity return and the overflow got blocked. The pump happily pumped the water out of the pond and down the path. I arrived home after work to find the pond left...
I've had my UV running 24/7 since I got it about a month ago. The effect on the water was unbelievable! It really does sparkle now. Furthermore growth of algae on the glass seems to have decreased. I'm guessing this is due to less (no?) algae floating about in the tank. I only seem to need to...
Thanks for the replies. They raise some interesting points:
1. The angle of the photo seems to suggest a kink in the pipe but in reality there is no flow restriction.
2. The Vecton is rated up to 1300 lph so it is only going to restrict the flow when it's going flat out which I don't tend to do...
Thanks - it makes things really worthwhile when the tank really takes off.
Difficult to photograph tank during the day because of the reflection from the outside wndow during the day.
During the evening my good lady gets in the way!
Neither of the lenses on my camera has a decent macro function...
Finally got my Eheim 2078 last week after being let down by an online store. Also purchased a Vecton 2 400 UV lamp with it.
When the filter arrived I was in the throes of the biggest pea souper I have ever had in a tank. Four days later and the tank is sparkling.
The Eheim is certainly not...
I agree with Barney - plants are the way to go.
Having been through the water testing with my tank I thought it would be interesting to test my pond water.
My pond is very heavily planted and my tap water shows 10 ppm of nitrate and my tank between 5 and 10 ppm when last tested.
The pond showed...
I bought a Rena Aqualife. I have been very pleased with it and the kit supplied apart from the XP3 filter. Cabinet is solid and easily constructed. Acces to lighting is good. It even looks good! My only concern was that the top part of the tank would be shallow and prone to evaporation and then...
