How often should i change the Filter Media and Foam pads? The instructions on the box seem abit vauge and a few friends have told me totally different things.

Got them from Maidenhead Aquatics in Addlestone. Is it normal to have that bulge on the belly? Also how can you tell the difference between male and females? Thanks! :good:

Oops i meant platy. I bought some guppies today though. Ill get some pics up if i can borrow my mates DLSR because using my phone apparently doesnt work.

I thought i got 6 males but this looks suspect to me but im not sure. Looks pregnant to me...hope not :S

Well i suppose most LFS are going to be closed over the next 2 weeks or so....so now its a good time to get a fishless cycle going and besides i dont have the money to keep replacing dead fish if it doesnt work. So pure ammonia i can get in Boots? Will the bacteria still be alive in the water...

Oooooh...im a very impatient person and i was looking forward to fish next week lol.... Ahwel. What would happen IF i was to add some hardy fish next week?

Oh right cool! Where does the bacteria come from if im not adding it then? Would it hurt to add some of the bacteria ive got seen as i have about 300ml of it. Also im now looking at about 3-4 weeks for my size tank to be ready?

No i didnt.... Arrgh this is far more complex than i needed to be lol. This is the problem with having everyone LFS tell you something different. Where do i go now then? Ill assume i have a tank full of De-Chlorinised water but with no bacteria. Add more bacteria and ammonia?

I live in the UK. I bought the tank second hand so it came with all the stuff the previous user had. I assume you would advise against a cycle with fish? How can i tell if the bacteria is still alive? Since i added the bacteria on monday ill guess its all died of by now?

It came with a bottle of Nutrafin Aqua Plus which is for removing chlorine and chloramine. Then two bottes of Nutrafin "Biological Aquarium Supplement" By the looks no ammonia. I know i need to add ammonia for the bacteria to survive. How long before the bacteria will die without it?

No i havnt added any ammonia yet. Im using a a liquid kit. I think ive got some ammonia downstairs ill go check as the tank came with loads of stuff.
