7 year update time! Hahaha, so I've completely dissassembled the tank and sold everything off as it was too big for our new place unfortunately. But we have started up a new 100L octagonal tank, so stay tuned for that in another post ;)

Haha thanks! Yeah I definately will start a journal for the Bettas :) just waiting to get some more progress before I start it so there is actually something to post haha. Amazon frogbit looks awesome! So far in my tank it seems to be doing well. My metal halide light was burning the leaves so I...

Which External Eheim Filter Is Proper For 30 Gallons (114L)

Yeah, this is the guy thats got me into 'DIY'ing a lot of my stuff with fishtanks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVWqq73mW_4 Essentially all a canister filter is, is a a sealed cylinder plumbed to the tank with a pump plumbed inline. Best thing, you decide your filter flow rate and capacity. :)

Which External Eheim Filter Is Proper For 30 Gallons (114L)

Heh, I personally think for versatility, you cant beat a DIY canister filter ;) I built my own out of PVC DWV piping, a threaded coupling, threaded end cap and a socket end cap. and just plumbed an inline pump straight into the side of it. You can build your own with higher capacity and...

I replaced it with Echinodorus...

Oh wow, glad I got it out then. No idea how it got in my tank though. Thanks heaps for your response! is there anyway I can stop them from occurring again? as far as I know this is the only one that was in my tank. Also that page says that its a moderate pollution indicator species, does that...

    Strange Cricket-Like Aquatic Insect... Id?

hey guys, so as usual I spent my 30 minutes looking at my tank today, watching my fish and checking the growth of my plants and I saw something rummage around in my substrate and thought it was a bit odd. So i got my planting tweezers and pull this thing out of the substrate and to my surprise...

    Happy Birthday Talltree!

Thats a good idea :) I second this.   With that ammonia from eBay, Australian customs really would not like it haha, they would confiscate it and come knocking on your door. Also Assassin snails are illegal to import into Australia as well so you won't find any here.   The plant layout sounds...

    Happy Birthday Talltree!

Sorry I didnt see your questions before, but it looks good so far   *those hitch hiking snails are most likely either small ramshorn or pond/bladder snails. Note that they will quickly reproduce and can VERY quickly become a pest in your tank. And if you want to ever get rid of them its nearly...
