The gray foam is still in the filter but there is no carbon filter or its soc spunge that keeps it together.

Thanks all...this betta was really agressive and it took me a month to find it....i wanted it to be completely red so it would stand out in my black trimed 5 gal with black gravel and green plants....it was nic while it lasted...oh wellz... maybe ill do a fishless cycle to be on the safe side...
