I heard that brine shrimp have no essential substance for nutrition that they are in fact just a treat only to be fed now and again. Is this true? Ive recently been feeding the fish tropical crisps in the morning and bloodworms in the evening.

I think your tank size just might be the case, 2 gallons is really tiny.
