Perfect.. I have been feeding him 5X a day since I got him! I cant believe how much he eats.
And about the disk being in bad shape.. it was from the previous owner.. he had another fish in his tank that was nipping at the stingrays disk... makes me wonder how someone wouldn't notice that, but...
Substrate is fine sand.. as I heard rays can cut themselves if it is anything other. The plecos dont mind the ray and seem to stay away from it its god damn gandolf that keeps harrassing the ray! he is looking very happy and healthy today besides the sores eating lots and swimming lots like...
you need to have a full water test kit.. for ammonia, nitrite, ph, and nitrate as those are the most important. Your ammonia lvl could be killing the fish as well as the nitrite or nitrate level.. make sure you buy the api liquid test kit.. the strips suck.
Ok it doesn't look like there is a cover on his tail.. I know he lost one of his stingers because I found it in the sand... I think he needs a bigger home right now as well since I have another fish pecking at it now.
The wierd thing is the stingray has started growing two stingers back...
Ok I think I found out the problem watching him closely the last couple days. The sores are healing now but one of the other fish i caught pecking at the stingrays belly when the stingray was sunbathing at the surface. I have not isolated the fish from the tank yet as it doesn't seem to be doing...
My stinray I have had for a month, I did not expect it to live as it was in bad shape when I got it but this morning I woke up to feed him and when he came up against the glass with his belly it looks like little flaps of skin are peeling back around his legs and its red (rashy) or kind of...
Actually he was in wayyyy worse shape when I got him... I really didn't think he would last this long.. but he is eating well and hanging in there... and I dont know what you mean by cover on stinger?
HAHA this is totally true..
Since getting my aquarium a month ago and not working for a month.. all I do all day is sit on this forum and watch my fish behind me.. and check my water like 4 times a day.
And then when my girlfriend gets home I have to pause our movies to check the forums "real...
Yes I do understand that.. this is the tank I got from the guy I eventually want to get into a 900l for the rays sake.. but he is getting better right now.. when he starts to have a hard time turning (im estimating 6 months or so I want to get into a 900l
Oh and for the guppys.. well they have...
Hi everyone,
I have been posting around the forums finding out as much as I can. My water quality is perfect now so I am focussing on my stingray.
All the pictures and video of stingrays I see have white or a very light pink belly... mine has a dark pink belly and I heard this can be caused...
Just A question to help me understand cycling the tank.
I didn't know about cycling a tank when I got it and learned about everything here.
Now when I read my levels this morning:
ammonia: 0
PH: 7.6
nitrite: 0
nitrate: 20
Does this mean that my tank is cycled? my water readings have been...
