Just noticed that all of my live plants in my tank have a thin layer of white stuff all over them.
any idea what this is.
Its only on the plants not anywere else :S
the thing that worrys me tne most is ive been fish keeping a week and no more about products and tank cycleing than a manager of a large tropical and marine fish store :( some people just want your money
well i went into a store today (a very large one) asking about getting ammonia to start my fishless cycle. all i got was no we dont sell it and why would you need it just buy this product and add fish tomorrow and all will be fine. i talked to 3 different staff and then the manager and no one...

one more question
ive taken out the carbon in the filter (as instructed) is it worth getting another filter media to replace the lost section? ie more spunge or ceramic nuggets...

did another 90% waterchage when i got those results as even i thought they were high

Finaly got my testing kit (nutrafin mini master)so will start tomorrow when ive purchased my ammonia
the water has been cyceling in my tank for a week now (left to its own)
and this is the results after a week of letting it do what it likes (90% waterchange on day 3)

Gvilleguy - your guide's are exactly what i was looking for and will stick to fishless. you say about carbon ive left my carbon in the filter for past week should i take it out? or just leave it for now? also ill do my water testing tomorrow and start this properly tomorrow
