ive heard they can be a little noisy , but then im sure there are views on about every filter out there saying they can be noisy
i can honestly say that my ehiems have always been quiet no matter how old
but expensive
Also good are floating plants to add another look to a tank , creating shaded ares etc
Dwarf water lettuce spreads like mad , short roots
Amazon frogbit medium speed spread , long roots
my tanks running at 25 degrees c if that helps ?

creating a siphon meaning getting water to pass freely through the intake pipe before connection to filter.
this will then fill the canister so no air is in the pipe which is a must!
same with return pipe back to tank , you want to make sure that is free flowing too so when the filter is the...
might not be anything to do with this make of filter,but when removing the lid make sure all valves controlling the flow of water are open first this will solve the problem if it's anything like my Eheim canister.
