hi i have found with discus you need plenty of dither fish to make them feel safe and stop hiding i have in with mine 10 cardinal tetra 5rummy noses and 10 pristella tetra also 2 bristle nose plecs and plenty of plants hope this helps

my vote was medium i keep discus and if you do plenty of research and dont rush in you understand better how to keep them we have had a few water problems but they are still going i have also bred them and raised 9 babys but it was all due to forums like this and researching hope this encourages...

the female matures at about 18 months the male 2 years old i dont know about other strain but my red angelerers were that age when they started breeding hope this helps

hi i have four clown loaches with Amano shrimps and they get along fine not eating them at all and the shrimp are breeding they dont go after the babys either
i use the hung huey filters in my discus tanks they are very good
