People will probably disagree with me but the best and quickest way to kill a small fish is to simply flick around the head, i know it sounds horrible but its quick and painless (if u do it right and it dies straight away).
:good:
Some people feed their fish 3 times a day, some people feed them once every other day, its just personal preference really. I feed mine once a day and give them bloodworm about 3 times a week.

I've just transferred my betta from a 2.5 gallon to a 10 gallon and was wondering what tank mates would be best with him? i was thinking either 3 - 4 pygmy cories or 3 - 4 ADF.
What do you think?
You should have rinsed the sand first but it will settle in time, and i cant imagine it would hurt the fish. It should settle within a couple of days, i've recently (today) put play sand into my new 10 gallon, i rinsed half a bucket of sand for around 20 mins and still after 6 hours in the tank...
to get rid of them you could try putting a peice of lettuce or a few algae wafers into a cup ond leaving it in the the gravel in your tank over night, and in the morning just take it out and rinse it out. do this a few times. Worked for me.
I've tested my tank water's Ph and its arount 8.5 - 9. But my tap water is around 7.5. is this ok or is there a way i can reduce it?
All i put into my tank water is dechlorinator, its got the standard juwel filter still in use.
Thanks :good:
Hi, i've recently noticed a small black patch on the end of custard's (male VT) tail fin.
If you can make it out on these pics its right on the end of the tail fin.
If you can make it out  should i treat it just in case?
Also with what, melafix or aquarium salt?
Thanks :good:
Morrored back tanks generally arnt a good idea as the betta can tire thereself out by flaring.
As for tanks theres always Ebay! or if you have a wilko's near you they have a 2.5 gallon critter keeper for £4.99
Veiltail is the most common type of betta, nearly all pet shop sell these, others are Crownttail, Halfmoon, Deltatail(i think), Plakat. These are the more rare ones but Crowntail can also be found in most pet shops. :good:
