Well this tank is only a few weeks old ,our other tank sprung a leak and we had to change.
Wondering due to swapping everything over and renewing stuff it stifled the the little darlings food chain somewhat.
We have java fern also getting a little bit paranoid about our shrimp .:(

There has to be a reason for this - lack of food or the new plants are soft and vulnerable perhaps.
Can't see the shrimps this morning they must be off sleeping somewhere after that meal.

Thinking use their water to do a change ...makes it a bit of a grind but it might save your fish and also eliminate your water source if no change in fish health.

Cleaned out pump sponge,body,impeller and everthing else...... nothing found GaryE not even a snail;)
No cables caught under lid or fouling anything that I could find seangee.

The tank is sort of new it was a display tank and on offer.
Last water change we repositioned the pump but two days later back to square one.
I reckon you are right about the suction pads perhaps they are not doing their job properly.
Tomorrow(monday) is my next water...
I have a 3foot from the 70s and an angle iron framed tank from god knows when. It was given to me in the mid 70s I never used it far too ugly but it did hold water.
In the mid sixties I had two acrylic type tanks. they were bow fronted tanks but now long gone.
As for resiliconing my used tanks...
