I didn't plan to breed them at all. Didn't know much about them, except that the guy at local fish store told us that it is good to keep the male with couple of females so he doesn't pick on one too much. From what I read now it is a big mess up. Can I remove the male tomorrow and separate him...

damn. I don't know what to do now. I have another heavily planted tank but I don't think I can put females tehre because there are 10 tiger barbs in it along with corys and ancistrus. And it is Sunday ffs. Can't buy a bowl to separate tehm. :sick:

I have one small, 5g planted tank with 3 female and one male bettas. I put them to it 5 days ago and male made a bubbling nest second day after they were introduced to it. I came home 30 mins ago and noticed him and her below the nest in the love dance. Eggs are falling like snow and he is...

Which means, if you plant heavily, you can add couple of fish from the start and they will do just fine.

He just acts normal, as other barbs in the tank do. No rubbing and no flicking. Could it be from the injury sustained in the fight with other tigers? I don't know how smart is it to put him back in tha main tank after we observe it in quarantine.

little update...transfer to quarantine tank is done. i managed to take one fresh pic from his left side. not so goood quality so i altered it a bit in photoshop. it is still no perfect but check it out. poor fella has no eye!!! :hyper:

I just put him in 20l quarantine tank with bit of water from the main tank and the rest is tap water dechlorinated and cleared of heavy metals. I will keep him there a bit to see if his behaviour changes. I raised temperature to 28C in q. tank. The only problem is that its filter is brand new...

Just took a photo of them hangin in the tank corner Also noticed that one of them has his left gill "hangin" strangely, like it's beeen chopped off or somethin, but it is working alright i think, also visible on hte photo.

I introduced a school of 6 tiger barbs to my 80l planted tank yesterday, along with 2 corys Woke up this morning and noticed that they are hiding in the back of the tank, hiding between sowrd plant and near the CO2 airstone from DIY bottle. Ocasionally they swim near the bottom of the tank, also...

what's your suggestion? I use an airstone on the left side of the tank for CO2. Should i put some more water in the tank to slow down teh air bubbles coming from the filter pipe?

i wouldn't say that it is sucking air because it is 99.9% submerged, except that pipe which is around 10mm above the water surface. I will leave it this way untill the tank is cycled adn fish inside.

The tank is still in cycling process so I can't give the correct info about that hehehe I will maybe need to reconsider gettin some fish from tetra family and take some fast fish like Puntius tetrazona :hyper:
