I'd say use the 10 gallon, buy a heater for 10-20 gallon prob a 50w heater. And you'd be good to go

Umm, This might be hard but maybe taking the fish out, all the ornaments and siphoning out whichever sand you can and put a thin layer of regular sand, and then put the eco complete as a mid layer and then finish it with regular sand, that way when you put the plant in its going through the eco...

Yeah ive had the tetra thing happen to me, when they die there bodys fall apart fast and just get sucked up prob,and i seen a danio of mine get really crazy bloated and then die... But haven't seen that in almost a year.

Just net all the fish and shrimp put them in a 5 gallon bucket. suck up the sand or gravel and put it in the new tank. and just do a normal water change. keep half or so and add 50% new water doesn't really matter. but that's it. Goodluck
