    Hi, Yes it looks like that. Silver flat tail and angular head. I believe it to have been introduced with live Daphnia.

    Thanks for the suggested link. But this is deff not Planaria. Very silver (metallic almost) and acts like some sort of mosquito larvae, free swimming and at times hangs down from water surface. about 5mm long with a head. Regards,

    No not a wind up. Perhaps you are all thinking of pearlite? not vermiculite. Vermiculite apparently will hold upto 4 times it's own weight of water. I was asking the question because I found an article referring to it at: http://www.algone.com/substrate.php Sherry44. :unsure:
