Just started with my 240L tank with a sand base.
Wondered what people use to vacuum the inevitable bits of junk that accumulate on the sand surface. Don't want to end up hoovering all the sand up as well, just the junk.

And my point is the shops aren't trying to sell me testing kits, etc. Most of them say they're not necessary!!

Just bought a Juwel 240 tank and put a sand base in.
Want to get quite a few large/medium size rocks (or slate) and some large pebbles.
Plenty in the garden but wasn't sure if these would be appropriate, even after cleaning.
Our local garden centre sells rocks/slate slabs quite cheaply...

Yes the sideboard is made of solid oak so can handle the weight no problem. And because of this and it's cost we certainly won't want to make holes in the back of it to access the filter!
The external filter wouldn't be able to go behind as it would be impossible...

We have a BiOrb aquarium at the moment and to be honest don't like it that much (warped views, no room on base, etc)
So we're upgrading to a normal rectangular shaped aquarium, something like the Fluval Roma 240.
Main reason we'll probably go for this is we want to put the aquarium on top...
