My own experience with Cherry Barbs, FWIW. I bought a pair, male and female. The male would NOT leave my Betta Rover alone. Poor Rover hid out in his cave and wouldnt come out. I removed the male and put him in another small tank alone for awhile to see if I could reintroduce him later. I waited...

I have a 5 gal. Marineland Hex (which I love, BTW), and I have 2 Mystery Snails, one female Cherry Barb and 2 Balloon Mollies in with my Betta, Rover. I had a male Cherry Barb but he was too aggressive with Rover, so I took him back to the store. I now have a very happy community.

I agree. But if people had any brains at all and NO CLUE about fish, you might think there would be a LITTLE curiosity as to why there are rows of tanks with multiple fish being housed in them yet here are these little cups sitting on a ledge with one fish in each? Duh... :D I have learned to...

Thank you both for the quick reply! Thats how I did it but then I read the opposite. I have gotten a LOT of contrary opinions from Betta care sites and sometimes its hard to know what to do.

As this is related to the OP, I have a question. I have read that if you plan to house a Betta with other fish thats it better to put the Betta in FIRST rather than later as he may stress being put in an environment that already has fish. Is this a fallacy?

I feed once...sometimes I will skip a day. I feed mine bloodworms and brine shrimp and throw in an algae tab for my snails.

WOW....she's gorgeous! And I guess your camera investment was worth it. :) I use my camcorder which takes stills, turn off the flash and turn on the hood light. Its an acrylic aquarium so I dont get the clarity I would like but its still better than my regular digital camera.

Your tank looks awesome and so do your fish! You are so lucky...I wish I had the room to do that. I originally bought a divided 5 gal. tank but took it back realizing I really wanted to let Rover have more room even if I couldnt have another Betta. Perhaps one day I can have another small tank. :)

Awwww....thank you! He's not a flashy as some of the beautiful fish I have seen on this site but he's special to me. :)
