You are right it can be a expensive stone but sure would make a tank pop! There is so many types. Its made of different minerals than limestone, jasper is chalcedonic quartz or micro granular quartz.Limestone is made up of mostly calcinm carbonate like you said. Where quartz are fairly hard...

I HAVE MANY BEAUTIFUL PIECES, IN MANY TYPES OF JASPER, ROUGH & SLABS . WHICH TYPES ARE OK TO PUT IN MY FRESH WATER AQUARIUM WITH OUT HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY CHEMICAL LEVELS?
