Update, it looks a lot better today, but there was a little ammonia showing in it's tank water so I've decided to give it another try in the main tank. Still a bit grey but miles better than it was a few days ago. I'm going to call it Lazarus.

You may be right, it's perked up quite a bit now, not so grey and a lot plumper It's starting to slime again a little bit too. Must be feeling better!

It's stopped sliming and gone grey & shrunken now, I think it's dead. Removed it to quarantine yesterday, didn't want it rotting in the tank. I'll give it a chance on it's own but I reckon it's a gonner.

An algae scrubber

Try trapping it, instead of netting it. Maybe with a glass or plastic bottle with a little food inside (with no other food available to it) Then when the little #29### goes in, stick a net over the top of the bottle quick and pull it out.

It hasn't changed shape or grown as far as I can tell. Certainly not grown anyway. Still sliming.

Maybe I've been moving it round too much? I assumed something was irritating it, but everything else seems ok. I'll leave it be for a bit longer and see what happens.

I think having a RO unit (and preferably a RODI one) is essential. They don't cost much (check out Ebay) and will pay for themselves easily over time. Also, some fish shops RO water leaves a lot to be desired. I went around several local places with a TDS meter (something else you can get on...

It's a 4ft tank of about 200 litres with a 50 litre sump, so taking away the sand and rock I think I have about 200 litres of water (around 55 US gallons). I have a 5000 l/hour rated pump in the sump but it's set at around two thirds capacity so allowing for the head I think I'm getting about...
