Opinions on what fish for 5 gallon tank

Lol, I suppose we will have to disagree on this as well. There’s been many aquarists who have kept these fish in a 5g and they have thrived(yes, I know the difference between survive and thrive, and I never suggest someone putting a fish in a situation where it has to survive). I wouldn’t put...

Opinions on what fish for 5 gallon tank

I think most of them are around 16” here. Mine is at least. I do disagree with them need an 18” width, there’s many people who I’ve spoken with who have kept them in an 8” and have had them thrive. I’m currently keeping CPD’s in a tank with less than an 18” and haven’t had issues and they...

Opinions on what fish for 5 gallon tank

There’s a whole lot you can do with a 5g. I know a lovely 5g stocking list(has likely a hundred options), but it’s on another forum and I’m not certain what the rules of posting links(I looked at the rules, but still confused me a bit in this regard) here are... You could do a school of chilis...

What kind of tail-type is this Betta?

He looks like an OHM to me, perhaps an RT, but yes, we would need a photo of him flaring for an accurate ID. Or could just post a video of him flaring as well.

    Relinquishing baby fish to petco

When people relinquish pets there, they typically set up a seperate environment in a certain area for them. They will either sell the animal at a reduced price(I believe they give the money to charity) or give them away for free. So they don’t really make any money from selling them. With fish...

    Yet another stocking thread

It’s true about the plants, but it also really depends on how many you have. If it’s heavily or even moderately planted it should not be much of an issue, but if it isn’t problems could certainly arise. I wouldn’t call it a non-event as it can still happen dependent on how many plants you have...

    29 Gallon stocking

Did you do the adult sizes of the fish? Because most of those look awfully small for adults... It’s also not just about the size of the fish alone, but the swimming room, the bioload, and parameter compatibility. Having 3 adequate schools with two centerpeices in a 29g is far to much IMO. I...

    Yet another stocking thread

Well, you could add them all at once, but you’d likely need to do fairly large daily waterchanges for a bit while the filter catches up on the increased bioload. You’d need to keep a close eye on the parameters and do the waterchanges when necessary. It can certainly be done, just need to keep...

    29 Gallon stocking

Yes, it would be overstocked. There’s quite a few temperature incompatibilities as well. The neons, cherries, kuhlis, and emperors all require lower temps than the ram. 5 schools( the neons, emperors, cherries, kuhlis, and diamonds all require at least 6) would also be far to much in this tank...

    Stocking Questions!

6 is a good number, but it’s also the minimum. Since you don’t have much room to add to many more fish in the 20g, I think it’d be best to just add a few more cories and the gourami if you were to end up deciding to move it. Now I wouldn’t add any more cories or Otos to the 10 because that...

    Stocking Questions!

I wouldn’t add anything to the 10g, it’s already overstocked. Plants do help with nitrates and such, so I suppose if you mean nitrates by filtration, then yes they do. For the 20 long or suggest moving the gourami from the 10g to it and adding 1-2 more bronze cories and call it stocked.

Help identify these fish from photos I took

Marine bettas are wonderful, I really hope to get one someday! Yeah, not confident on the bright eye, but I’m fairly certain it’s a damsel. You definitely should go back lol, that aquairum looks amazing!
