I wouldn't go to the trouble of doing that. You can just use some of your existing tank water and mix it with the new water. If you are running a sponge filter squeeze the sponge in the new tank. These methods will help mature the new filter Thanks Rob

like some of the others I would add it when first filling the tub. I use a couple of spare tanks above the others with fish in. Doing this I can just syphon the water down during a water change Thanks Rob

I use cold tap water filtered through carbon and then leave it to stand for a couple of days in a spare tank. If you have to use hot water, I would recommend using a kettle. Thanks Rob
