    co2 reactors

I also have a really good tip, so you dont have to add yeast all the time....when changing the solution, try to save save some water(or better yet, only throw 50-70% of the solution). Ive been doing this for 2 months now and I havent had to add yeast, although yeast is cheap. Btw, does anyone...

    NEW bulbs

Im not positive, but I think you can get bulbs from seeds(not sure). Like, pollinate the flower, and wait.

    NEW bulbs

I dont know if you can get more bulbs from them, but you can get more plants from a bulb. Just let the new one grow, and once its pretty big, and has a good root system, remove it from the bulb, and the bulb will produce new plants, sometimes, multiple plants!

I dont about actinic, but I think its not used in the planted tank. Read more about it. Anyway, how much is the wattage of your lights all together? Also, I dont konw about the fish getting shocked, unless its a a really sensitive species. I have my lihgts on and off, all at the same time, with...

How big? it should be around 2-3 mm, althought some people have sucess with larger ones. Do you have gravel additives? The additives is the important one, since gravel's only value is holding down plants and make rooting easier. The additives purpose is like a storage/reactor for the plants...

    plant filters

Filters are somewhat not as important in a planted tank, lighting is. How much is that wattage of your light, and what do you mean by "blue"? Anyway, yes, co2 does help alot, even if you have low lohgt. The theory that I know is like this: With co2, the plant doesnt use much energy to gather...

The snails are easy to control IMO. Try taking them out by hand, or use copper(Read more about this as this can kill both plants and fish, also). About the hairy looking thing, what color is it? I bet its algae. Read more about balancing your tank. Also, look into co2 injection, try the diy...

    SAE's

They are failr easy to keep, like moe said, and they are probably the best algae eaters you can find in the aquarium trade. Also a note on using ich medicine. This can get concentrated on algaes, and the SAEs are the first to suffer if you use too much.

40 watt isnt enough. Its way too low. The guideline is 2-3 watts/gallon. Here is a cheap method(your lucky you have a 55 gallon) to replace your current lighting for cheap, should not cost above $70. 1.Return your hood, and the light bulb and get a refund. 2.Go to home depot, and get shoplite...
