Slight gaps between tank and stand

Interesting, I haven’t heard of foam leveling mats being necessary for rimmed tanks, but all my rimless tanks have come with a mat included. I generally just go by manufacturer recommendations. I guess a more rigid piece of foam or board would be of benefit for a rimmed tank if the surface it’s...

Slight gaps between tank and stand

Wow, the tank, stand top, and table look seamless! It’s nice when things come together really well like that. If you have a very flat and level surface then I don’t think the mats are necessary. When I had a rimmed tank I didn’t use a mat, but it seems to be recommended for the rimless tanks.

Slight gaps between tank and stand

That's a great point! It also occurred to me that I slid the tank around to line it up on the stand. I wonder if that could change the way the leveling mat compresses, especially since it's adhered to the glass. I'm going to try lifting the tank straight up and setting it back down to see if...

Slight gaps between tank and stand

Just wanted to update y’all—Waterbox said the gaps in the photos are no problem and that the mat will compress to compensate. I feel like my next questions should be “will you come clean up the mess and replace my tank if the bottom pane cracks?” Lol. Probably will still pick up some extra foam.

Slight gaps between tank and stand

Ok! I definitely don’t want to cut corners so I’ll get some more foam and see if it helps

Slight gaps between tank and stand

Yes! It’s a waterbox clear mini. I got it gently used and thought the previous owner may have added it, but their website says that they install the foam mats on the tanks.

Slight gaps between tank and stand

Thanks all. I was worried I’d get this answer. I emailed the tank manufacturer and the company that made the stand so I’ll see what they recommend. The thin piece of black foam is adhered to the tank by the manufacturer—maybe I do just need something thicker. The stand was not cheap and is made...

Slight gaps between tank and stand

I was about to fill my 16g aquarium and went to check that everything is level. Side to side is fine, front to back is slightly off but the bubble is within the two lines on the level. The floor is not perfectly level and the stand is on carpet which is probably causing the issue. Since the tank...

    16g planted aquarium build

A small update: I ended up buying some plastic egg crate louver and used pliers to shape it into a platform for the driftwood. It took some trial and error to get the shape of the platform right—it was a little too big at first and I had to use a ton of soil to cover it, so out it came along...

Thank you!! Glad to hear that the wood looks ok. I used reef epoxy to stick a bunch of branches together and then couldn't get the stuff off my hands haha.

I've had the stand for a couple of years and was looking for a tank with the right dimensions. This one fit the bill! The light is a Twinstar C series—I'm interested to see how it grows plants :) Nylon bags filled with gravel is a great idea. I have a bunch of old Eco Complete that I could reuse
