Turning The Filter Off At Night?

It's really not a good idea. The filter is designed to be on all the time. Turning it off at night will likely cause a mini-cycle as others are saying. And that is NOT good!

Would My Tank Be Overstocked If...

A 15 inch tall 65 gallon hex? Something doesn't seem right to me here. You sure it isn't 65 litres?

Im Looking For A Hospital Tanks

Not true, almost all heaters have thermostats that regulate their temperature... they turn off when the temp hits a certain level (either set internally or by a dial)... it won't boil your fish unless it breaks.

    Fish Eatting Wood

Completely normal. Plecs eat wood. It's good for them and as indigoj said, essential part of their diet.

    Live Bearers Have Sexchanges?!

Well, if you are using the word "gender" interchangably with sex, don't, because they do not mean the same thing. I don't know that fish can have genders. Humans are the only animal that I know for sure can have genders. As for their sex, I have heard that before too but I am really not sure...

Good "centerpiece" Community Fish For 10 Gallon

I don't like the betta idea just because you have shrimp and, as you said, they sometimes eat them.... it's not always just an expensive snack either! Sometimes it means the death of your betta... I know this from experience. I personally had a betta with some shrimp and he ignored them for...

Utterly Gorgeous Betta On Uk Ebay!

Yes, I've ordered bettas off aquabid before and wow, trying to deal with transhippers is pretty annoying... very confusing!! I live in Canada though and there are only 1 or 2 who ship to here so it might be worse. Probably easier in the US.

    The Cycle

Yes, it's fine to put in the ammonia. If I were you I'd actually put in half that much, because then you can be more sure that you aren't going over, and going under isn't really a big deal. As long as you have SOME ammonia, the cycle will start - you could even put in just 1 ppm and the cycle...

    Help Needed-moving With Fish!

At 180 litres, even if you TRIED to move it when it was half-full, you wouldn't be able to, not with a few strong people I don't think either. Water is heavier than it looks! Not that you should try at all. As fatheadminnow said, NEVER move a tank with things in it!!!!!!!!

    Slowly But Surely Getting There....

The terminology can sometimes be a bit confusing. I understand that, to a beginner, a "fishless cycle" might sound like what they have been recommended by their local fish store - that they leave the tank running without fish for a few days before adding them. However, leaving a tank with...

    Bloodworm Pellet : Feeding

What type of fish are they? Sinking pellets are mainly for bottom-feeding fish. Most fish would be top or mid-feeders I think. Mostly the bottom feeders are catfishes and shrimps and stuff. So if you're just looking for a stable diet for the fish with less mess than the bloodworms, you could...

    New Starter

True but not true. The chlorine has evaporated. But that isn't what we're worried about - we're more worried about the chloramine, which is more stable and does NOT evaporate! As well as heavy metals. The dechlorinator is mainly for these last 2. If it was just chlorine we could let the...

    Why Cycle A Tank

I don't mean to be a downer here, but are you all daft? I think those posts make it pretty clear what's going on here, you're all being trolled by 1 guy with 2 accounts, he's posting for the reactions, he doesn't want any help. At the very least, even if he does want help, he's having a lot...

    Heaters?

Well honestly I've never heard of one that does... though it would be a good design feature. I am relatively sure that 95% of the common heaters sold do not cool the water. But there might be one that does. That could be useful for heat waves with no A/C.
