Why Did My Dwarf Gourami Die?

You say the tank was up-and-running for two weeks before you added fish. Did you actualy cycle the tank durring that time, or was it just sitting with water in it. (if you don't know what cycling is, you didn't do it)

Young Common Plec Died, Wondering What I Did Wrong

Alright, so I'll look into other forms of filtration. However, the more I think about it, I doubt that my pleco's death was caused be filtration problem. I did a water change that morning, and, while he was a bit sluggish, he was definitely alive.

Young Common Plec Died, Wondering What I Did Wrong

how long has the tank been cycled? the tank has been fully cycled a little over 3 months what size is the tank? 20 gallons (US) long. Before I get told that my tanks is too small, the pleco was young, and the peopleat the LFS said that since people want big plecos for their tanks, I could trade...

Young Common Plec Died, Wondering What I Did Wrong

So my common plec which I have had for about 2-3 months has been acting rather sluggish for the past few days and died today. I just did a gravel vak/water change this morning and I don't have a full chem test kit so all I know is the ph is 7.8. I have been feeding him zucchini, so I doubt he...

    Pleco Died, Worried About Tankmates

Alright, so next plec I get I will make sure to feed the flakes slowly so none of them land on the bottom. I don't see any bloating, however he is still barely alive so I haven't taken him out to examin him. I'm thinking maybe a catfish or some other sort of bottom feeder might be better...

    Pleco Died, Worried About Tankmates

First off, sorry for the lack of editing and the langth of this post, today has just sucked all around. So I just got home and went to look at my tank, and I saw my common pleco, about 2-3 inches long, lieing on his back, dead.. All the other fish seem healthy but I'm worried that something...

Beginner With A 15 Gallon Tank

Take the shells out now, they will upset your PH. Thaat sounds like it could work, its getting a little crowded, but I think if you do fairly frequant water changes you should be okay. ( I have a similarly crowded tank, I do 40% change every two weeks)

Beginner Needing Help With 1St Water Change And Also Feeding Fish

It sounds like you are over feeding your fish! What I would do, is feed them once a day, at most. A general rule of thumb that I use, is feed them as much as they can eat in about 30-45 seconds. Also, your betta shouldn't be eating regular flakes, you need to buy betta pellets for her.

Does The Filter For My Betta Need To Have Carbon?

Exactly none of my tanks have carbon filtration. Exactly all of my fish (and frogs) are happy. :)

    Water Changes

Yes, you can! if you keep your tank "too clean" you won't have enough "good" bacteria in the tank. Also, water changes are stressful on the fish...change i water temp, kicks up a lot of debris etc. I personally do about 25% every two weeks. It keep the tank nice and clean, but ( I don't think)...

    Advice On African Dwarf Frogs

For my 5 gallon adf tank, I didn't use filter media, but I filled about half of the tank with water from my already established tank. They seemed quite happy.

    Adf's In A .....

Personally, I have a 5 gallon (us) tank and I have three frogs and an apple snail. While the frogs themselves don't produce much waste, the un eate bloodworms ( which there are alot of) do. I suggest sticking with 2 adfs in your tank, and you should be fine. In my opinion, having fewer of them...

So if I rehome the gold gourami, one of the other fish won't just take its place as the bully?
