Cheers folks. The male you see has actually paired with one of his babies from a previous batch. Seems like nothing will stop him
His previous mate doesnt know what do do with herself now. She paired up with another one of the babies from a previous batch too. Its like some sort...
Sounds just like what i have just been through with my tank. I lost about 8 fish in a matter of days
Im pretty sure it was PH shock as my local fish supplier had the same thing and fish all doing the same. Sitting on the bottom hardly moving. White fluff round fins and body, breathing...
Well i've had another successfull batch of Rainbow Cichlids last week. All now free swimming and growing quite quickly
I really do like these fish. Beautiful colours and a joy to watch when they guard their fry
Think i might remove the parents shortly as they have a nasty habit of eating them...
Yeah im thinking it could be Flexibacter too.
Lost my male Bolivian Ran last night  Came home from work and he was upside down. Still had colour though and didnt look like he had any cotton wool type stuff on him either. My Black Rubys are looking a bit iffy last night too. Going down...
Right well i've lost another two fish last night. My coolie loach and a red eye tetra
Done another water change and levels are still high. My male bolivian ram is looking pretty bad now too. He was upside down this morning!!
Im pretty sure its this Flexibactar disease as they are...
Yeah im gonna do another water change tonight and test the water again.
To be fair i recon there are a couple too many fish in the tank but i plan to transfer some to another tank which has my Rainbow cichlids but they have free swimming fry and im waiting on a tank divider to keep them to a...
Tank is 120L Juwel Rio
I tested the water yesterday before and after a partial water change (about 20%)
Before
Ammonia - Between 40-80
Nitrite - Nil
Nitrate - Almost of the chart! About 80-160
After
Ammonia - Between 20 - 40
Nitrite - Nil
Nitrate - Still high but down to 40-60
Now one of my...
Over the last two days all three of my Denison barbs have sadly passed away  They looked absolutely fine on Friday!
Basic story:
Saturday morning i found one lying upside down on the bottom of the tank so i swiftly removed him. Again the other two seemed ok at this point
Sunday saw the...
To be fair the angels are not that big so they dont seem bother the cardinals
They seem pretty laid back fish. They spend most of their time eyeing up my rainbow fry which are in a breeding box at the top of the tank. Makes for some funny viewing :hyper:
Well i went down to Outside Inside Aquatics in Haddington on sunday and bought two Angel fish for my community tank
They have settled in nicely although they keep eyeing up the fry in the trap
Got a few more cardinals while i was there too :hyper:
Love this shop. I spend...
Thats what i had feared  Silly fish!
Oh well like i said though there must be at least 200+ eggs this time. Think i'll set up my little tank again for when these fry are free swimming. Is there a timescale for seperating them from the parents?
I have a couple of questions regarding my rainbow cichlids.... Hopefully someone can help me out
My pair of rainbows laid eggs a few weeks back. They hatched a few days later and since then they have been doing fine. All was well and fry seemed to be gaining confidence and were...
Just got the two breeding Rainbows and the Marble Plec in there just now. They decided to lay eggs that night. Was gonna put the Geophagus over but thought i'd leave the proud parents to it for a while
I've still got the tank i bought from you a few months back. Its been mooved upstairs now...
