Thanks for the link :) I've had him for about 9 or 10 months. Was a real little monster in the big tank, but calmed down in the smaller one. Maybe he's just bored now?

My three-spot gourami has started chasing his own tail. I know it sounds crazy, but he's ripping it to shreds. Has anyone else seen this behaviour? I was wondering if it's a stress thing? He's always been aggressive, so we moved him from the community tank into his own 60L tank about 4 or 5...

Poor gourami :( You could put some stones/decoration around the plant so the others can't get too close to it.

Thought so :D Have to say that I wouldn't buy my fish from that particular store anyway, and after that advice from them it's even less likely now. Thanks for the info! I've been looking for an excuse to keep a well-planted tank. I feel a bit mean keeping one fish on his own, but I'll add...

I finally gave in and separated my 2 opalines ... the fighting was just unbearable. So I've moved the villain into a smaller tank now - 60L and I don't want to leave him in there by himself for too long. He does seem very subdued and sad all by himself, but I just can't put him back in the other...

Good advice :good: ... I've once used one of those holiday feeder sticks when I was away for 7 days - not sure if they gobbled it all in one go or if lasted the whole week, but they were all still alive when I got back :fun:

I've got two opaline gouramis and they are lovely fish. Except for the fact that one of them is a tyrant and keeps chasing the other one until it hides away. :( Also found one of my other fish (danio) without a tail and think that this lil' bugger could be the culprit - so maybe they're not the...

He seems fine to me, swimming very fast and is just as alert as the rest of the danios. It's just very odd because I can't imagine how he lost it. They stay close to the bottom of the tank and often hide under the filter box, but don't go up to the top where the filter opening is.

One of my danios lost his tail! I have a 180 litre tank with 12 glowlight danios, 2 opaline gouramis, 3 platies and 5 platy fry. (And the tank itself is only a few months old). I'm not sure how he lost his tail, but all that's left is a fluffy white stump :( I've done water tests and everything...

Thanks - here are some more photos ... they're not great photos but this one's always hiding.... or being chased... Last night they were doing that head-to-tail circle dancing that someone else mentioned here before. Their colours changed and were very dark and it was quite a sight -...

Could someone tell me if my opaline gourami is male or female please?? I have two gouramis which have identical dorsal fins so I have no idea if they are male or female. They are quite territorial - and the darker one will often chase the lighter one to the back of the tank whenever it comes...
