If it were me I'd probably move everything but the barbs and rainbow shark into the 125 then build a smaller community around those in the 55. Maybe adding some more barbs, some of the smaller varities of loaches...???
I just bought a Penn Plax X5 for my 90 gallon tank. I only ran it for about 10 minutes last night but it seemed to be relatively quiet and it had no problem with a 15" bubble wall and 6" air stone in my 24" deep tank. It has two settings on it too, one for less power more quiet and one for less...
A 25 gallon tall tank is only big enough for 2 full grown angels on their own so yeah, a bigger tank is probably a good idea if you are going to keep them. The blue lobster needs to go, or maybe stay in the 25 gallon on it's own (not sure if that's big enough though I think they can get to be...
From everything I have read you should NOT get two red tailed sharks. They are peacefull twords other fish for the most part (when they are young but for a lot of people that changes when they get older) but they are VERY agressive twords their own species and usually other sharks as well.
They make battery backup/surger protectors for computer & home theater use but those usually only have a run time of a few minutes to 1-2 hours and they aren't cheap. They are really only meant to allow you to shut everything down and save data before losing power. To get anything that would run...
Very nice pics. I see you have them with rasobas. I'm assuming they are fairly peacefull fish and would get along with tetras and the like.
Anyone know how they would do with Angels? There is so little out there about these fish it's tough to get a handle on them, but they seem like the perfect...
It should be an interesting experiment. I just bought a 90 gallon tank and I'm in the process of setting it up. I have that on one end of the room and then on the other end I have the my TV. It's a 90" widescreen HD projector screen with the projector sitting on the coffee table. That has gotten...
I can't seem to find a pic of it anywhere, and I was in a hurry to leave the shop I was at and forgot to ask about it. It had a fairly long thin silver body (about 3"-4") with a bright red stripe down the side and the tail fin had black and yellow stripes.
Watch the scurbby pads you use. Some will actually say "not safe for aquariums" on them. They have stuff in them that help to kill bacteria and will do so in your tank which is not a good thing.
I just picked up a used setup that included a Magnum 350 canister filter and I'm having some problems getting it to work. The motor seems to be running fine and I was able to start it and pull water in to fill the cannister but after I stopped, let the cannister fill and restarted it the water...
You should absoutley test any rocks you are putting in your tank, common white vinegar is the easiest. If it bubbles there are minerals in there that can/will change the chemistry of your water when they leech out. As for boiling, you should especially if it's a rock from a local stream or...
If your tank is showing amonia it is not cycled. I would stop adding chemicals because it won't fix anything just mask the problem and stress the fish more in the end because of the wildly fluxuating conditions.
Keep up with 50% daily water changes and test the water. If you get big amonia...
If you want the actual formula used to calculate the volume of a hex tank (and who doesn't because hey, maths is fun!) here you go:
2.6 X length of one side squared X height = cubic inches inches in volume
Cubic inches / 231 = gallons
(the 2.6 is actually 3 X the square root of 3, divided by...
