    Worried Discus might have worms

If I move him to the quarantine, do you think the stress level of being alone and in a new environment could potentially be more risky to his health? I have had some fish die when I move them to quarantine, but usually because they were already in life-threatening condition. Do you think the...

    Worried Discus might have worms

if the others weren't doing so well, I wouldn't notice anything about him, but I just wanted to make sure he is ok before he potentially gets worse

    Worried Discus might have worms

Hi everyone, I purchased 6 Discus about 5 weeks ago in my 75 gallon aquarium. Everything in the tanks is going well; the chemistry is good (pH: 6.5, hardness: 25, Nitrate: 5, carbonate: 20) and all fish are growing fast and healthy. But one discus, pictured below, seems to be a little skinnier...

How to make my tap water safe?

Thank you for the very informational replies! I do not add any additives or ferts to my planted tank and it things have been going smoothly so thanks for the reinforcement. I will do more water changes to maintain the GH, I have not done one is some time since there are very few fish in the tank.

SOS betta sick I think HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If ammonia is present, then the tank is not cycled. Do a major water change but be certain the water is the same temp as the tank and that you dechlorinate it. Hope he feels better!

    Water-change killed my fish??

Yes I agree that I should continue testing. Sorry I know I sounded a little trigger-happy to put the discus in the tank and I am not planning on getting them until I am certain water fluctuations will occur. The tank has been set for 6 months, nitrate generally at 0 (although admittedly the bio...

    Water-change killed my fish??

Thanks you!! This was really helpful. Sadly, upon reading this, I believe I have many of my fish have died from chlorine. I think I just jumped so headfirst onto all the aspects of water chemistry that I failed to fully address chlorine/chloramine. Have you ever heard of larger fish being more...

How to make my tap water safe?

Right now my tap water has the water parameters: Total hardness (GH): 25 Nitrate: 0 Nitrite: 0 Cl: 0.5 Carbonate (KH): 15 pH: 6.4 And my tank: Total hardness (GH): 50 Nitrate: 0 Nitrite: 0 Cl: 0 Carbonate (KH): 20 pH: 6.4 As you can see I have very acidic water that isn't to chlorinated. In my...

    Water-change killed my fish??

I agree, I am sure that conditioning water in a separate container is safer and I will look into that more, but for now I would really like to get my "python" water change system working (the reason I am quoting python is because it is actually just hose and a filter inlet siliconed together)...

    Water-change killed my fish??

Thank you everyone for all of the feedback! I agree that it was probably something with the tap water. I think I am misunderstanding how to best dechlorinate the water as it comes into the tank. Does dechlorinator have somewhat long lasting properties? Should I add the dechlorinator before...

    Water-change killed my fish??

Hi everyone, This actually happened a few months ago, but I need to resolve this issue before I purchase and new fish. My 75-gal planted aquarium was thriving with 3 kuhli loaches, 8 corydoras, 10 rummy-nose tetras, 2 apisstogrammas, and 2 bamboo shrimp. About a week after adding the most...
