    Thank you Bullrock74, this is what I had read before, but assumed that I was wrong after fishdude replied. Now I am totally confused. I had not thought about the light bulbs. Is there nothing I can put in the water that will clear this up?

    Thanks afishdude. What is the appropriate length of time to have the tank light on? The tank is in my kitchen and is in a corner where it does not get much natural light. I usually have the lights on from about 5pm until about 1am. I cant understand why this has only recently started to happen.

    Possible Whitespot? Please Help

    Thanks Wilder, its a real pain, as i was about to add another couple of guppies at the weekend. People keep telling me it is easier to look after a tropical tank rather than coldwater, but as yet, I am not finding this. But i love this hobby, although I am new to keeping tropical fish. Thanks.

    yes it does look like salt but there is not a lot just a few bits on the tail and on the top of the body. When I had a coldwater tank many years ago I had an outbreak of whitespot but the fish were plastered with spots, so this is why I am unsure. Do they float about in the water too?
