how long has the tank been running? that form of algea you usually get in a new tank and will die off on its own the be replaced with brown stuff, which will eventually go and then u should be ok!

again if you go for the more expensive in the first place it will give you more flexability in the future with what you can put in your tank and more importantly you wont have to upgrade in the future costing you more dollars! :good:

although not an ideal situation its not the end of the world the carbon wont harm your tank, it will just get to the point where it wont be beneficial to the system anymore ie wont clean up your water for you. most of it will eventually work its way out and when ever you see it just grab it :)

if you do go for one of those deffinatly go for the T5 varient! it may cost you a tad more but well worth it in the long run! you will be able to keep alot more stuff under this lighting compared to the T8 so if you do wanna try some corals and other inverts in the future you can under this...

i-bars from arcadia are good things if you ask me, they offer decent lighting for a decent price if you dont want seriously light loving corals or inverts then you can go with a power compact or T5 set which will give you good bright lighting and will be what the corals are looking for. If...

i did want an area for algea's at present they are in the main display which isnt a bad thing but the crabs love to munch em lol! think ill put a small gravel layer in there and then have algea's and then the skimmer in there aswell lol got loads of room!!

depends what your looking to keep under the lighting peaka, for a fish only system you can get away with tubes and you will be fine though i would at least reccommend two tubes so you can get one "marine white" bulb and one "antic" bulb. if your thinking of keeping corals and other inverts then...

hmmm something deffinatly seems a bit dodgy there, as far as i know the crystals dont have a date on them, i use them myself and buy a huge bucket to last me a while and dont have any problems. reef crystals has one of the highest calcium contents of all the salt mixers thats one of the reasons...
