Thank you very much for the advice..One last question to clarify….to keep the salt level at the same level as you advised should I continually add the salt daily or just one time (up to your prescribed period of no more than 2-4 weeks at those dosages?).
This is definitely a ph problem..
To increase the ph from a very toxic level below 6.0 you must add about a quarter of a teaspoon of baking powder-known as sodium bicarbonate(liquid ph up is useless)immediately…
See where the ph level is in 24 hours and increase it only again with a little less...

I am hesitant about putting salt in the aquarium having read that corydorus and tetras
are sensitive to it.
If you believe it wont harm them with a reduced dose, what dose would you suggest?
I also read about Furan 2 as a possible alternative...do you agree it might do...
