Here is my recently (last week) rescaped tank, removed the tacky plastic decorations and gravel, and dove into my first planted tank!
Its a 40L "lovefish" aquarium, no modifications.
I used 1 large piece of wood and mixed sizes of dragon stone.
The soil i used was Tropica Soil, plants i planted...
Hmm, the filter is powered by the internal electrics of the hood, and since the framework accompanies the hood, even if i was to remove it its got all sorts of grooves etc in it, it wouldnt allow me to easily use a HOB filter :(
Im considering buying one of those LED bars that can be mounted on...
Hey,
So i just rescaped my 40L tank, and planted rather heavily, i bought tropica 1-2 grow plants and used their (overpriced) soil, everything is planted and the neons love their new home... BUT...
The tank i am using is a love fish/interpet 40L panoramic, the LED's dont appear to be bright...
Glad you've decided to wait :) it's the right choice for the fish!
You can do 30% daily that's fine, fresher water will always do less damage than ammonia filled water.
If I happen to go to Manchester within the next week or so I'll let you know, and I'll bring a bottle full of media :p
When...
Hey mate,
Sorry but you really need 0 ammonia and nitrite, nitrate is less of an issue, but you want this to be as low as possible!
What test kit are you using?
Even with 0.25 ammonia you should do a water change of 30%, any more than that it should be 50-75% depending on the result.
ANY...

My water is quiet hard, I also have a 450L African cichlid tank that my water is perfect for, I just want a little side project :)
I've just bought and set up a 40L tank, but I'm calling it 35L after accounting for gravel and decorations,
What would you put in a 35L tank?
Open to all ideas as it's empty and no plans on a certain fish!
p.s by large i mean roughly 30 litres
No idea tbh, im excited though, this is my first breed!
Im sure shes been holding for roughly 3 weeks so surely she cant hold for much longer!
Might go with method 3, ive got some large strong plastic tubs that i use only for fish stuff, i might fill one up, strip the fry from her, and use the fry trap i have and just keep them in the main tank for now :)
So im sure my red zebra is holding fry and she will spit any time this week if ive counted the weeks properly,
I was looking for a suitable small and cheap tank to put her in to spit the fry, then put her back in the main tank.
Would this be suitable?

Sorry mate was at download festival!
I really like the tetratec external filters, my ex1200 is amazingly quiet, I have to put my hand against it or check the outflow spray bar to be sure it's still on!
Warehouse aquatics again is the best place for filters, cheap and you'll get it next day!
You can't really over clean a filter if your using tank water and your doing it fast :D
Just make sure you use either a bucket of tank water (safest way) or a bucket of dechlorinated water
