ok so i've been noticing some red algae growing in my tank. most prominently on my plastic plants and plastic filter tube. i dunno what causing this, i do regular water changes of 25% once a week, sometimes 50% depending on water clarity and water stats. what can i do to stop this from occuring...

i'd do the two guoramis, a shoal of 3-4 spotted corys and 4 female platys (either tuxedo or painted). i'd do all females so u don't get babies like crazy. i also like bleeding heart tetras instead of the platys.

wow, thanks three fingers, u made things alot less intimidating. i'm think i'm gonna start with some plants later this week now! is it really necessary to get the power head before i add the plants, will it make that much of a difference? it's okCkutz, the questions u asked helped me out as well.

u surely cant rush her on dropping fry, it'll only stress her and cause her to abort... i know it's hard but patience is key at this point in the game. good luck and keep us posted!
