    Nitrite Spike Won’t Go Down

It won't be a problem. Stability won't kill any of your good bacteria. It will only add additional strains. More info here: https://seachem.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037823133-FAQ-Will-Seachem-Stability-kill-off-my-existing-bacteria-colonies-

    Nitrite Spike Won’t Go Down

Excellent, congratulations!!! I would continue for 7 days. I think after first day you can half the dose.

    Nitrite Spike Won’t Go Down

Thank you for adding the photo. None of the ingredients look suspicious to me. Please ask them to sell you the plants that are in the aquariums with fish rather than in plant-only containers. In this way your new plants will be coated with nitrifying bacteria when you bring them home.

    Nitrite Spike Won’t Go Down

Yes you are right. Prime will bind harmful particles and make them fish safe for around 24h. Afterwards you'll have to re-dose. In the meantime your beneficial bacteria will still be able to "consume" Nitrites and your test will be able to detect it. Still 5 ppm is a lot, probably more than...

Bristlenose genetics: long fin lemon vs snow white vs albino vs red

Let's consider a different scenario where all variables remain the same, except brown parent is now replaced with another colour. Would lemon parent without albinogen and albino parent produce only lemon offspring? As @ghyti mentioned albino gens are recessive. Does this mean that all other...

    ID new plants

They don't have roots yet, so I hanged them on the side of the tank. Right now only bottom 1 inch of each stem is submerged and all leaves are above the water surface. Should I add any specific fertiliser to encourage the growth of the new roots? Are they going to be OK with a standard aquarium...

Bristlenose genetics: long fin lemon vs snow white vs albino vs red

Are there offsprings always 50% brown and 50% albinos? Somehow I assumed that in mixed pairs the likelihood of getting an albino fry in subsequent "batches of fry" will be random. Since I have your attention, could you please tell me if your calico pair tends to produce the same number of eggs...

    ID new plants

This makes total sense. Thank you so much @Colin_T . So far I only had foxtail, hornwort, anubias, java fern and various floating plants. Anything beyond those is very new to me.

    ID new plants

Thank you both so much! You just saved me the disapointment of watching my new plants die and turn to mash underwater. I will keep Melon Sword in the darkest part of the tank and make sure that the leaves of the other 3 are out of the water. I just googled Draceana and Dieffenbachia and it looks...

Bristlenose genetics: long fin lemon vs snow white vs albino vs red

This is very interesting. Thank you so much @ghyti ! Do your calicos live in the same aquarium as browns and albinos? If they do, have they ever displayed any interest in breeding with either of those?

    ID new plants

For years I've only kept plants that don't require substrate, but recently I decided to redecorate. A few days ago I treated myself to a few new plants and I forgot to ask at my local aquatic store what they were. Silly me! Without knowing what the plants are called, I'm not sure if any of them...
