I just got bit by a shrimp...

I had my arm in one of my tanks and I felt a pinch. I look down and there's a little neocaridinia shrimp on my arm. I've never heard of them biting before. And then, I exacted my revenge (j/k).

How many days can black worms remain fresh

I get mine from a fish store that has them in baggies of water. I keep the baggie in the fridge. I usually add extra aquarium water to the baggie because the worms seems to last longer.

How many days can black worms remain fresh

Mine usually run out before they go bad - they run out usually about 7-9 days. It may depend on the volume of water they're kept in.

Don't ya just hate those storms that screw up shipping

I hope your fish are okay. As a teacher, I thoroughly approve of winter storms. Winter storms = days off. Our Winter Break ended Friday, but we haven't started school yet due to 2 snow days. :)

Newts??? I've not seen one, since I got back into aquariums... are they still in the hobby??? anyone have one???

LOL! Fire belly newts are now $50! You used to be able to buy those for under $10. I had a group of them for 7+ years until they escaped from a temporary container when I moved. I had been considering setting up a new enclosure for newts again. They are a lot of fun.

Newts??? I've not seen one, since I got back into aquariums... are they still in the hobby??? anyone have one???

That's a good question. I don't know. I found a few sites that had a very good selection of newts, but emperors were all sold out. This was the first site where I found them available.

Newts??? I've not seen one, since I got back into aquariums... are they still in the hobby??? anyone have one???

Here's a site that currently has them: https://reptileheaven.com/product/emporer-newt-for-sale/ But it's a little concerning that they misspelled "emperor". Man, newts have gotten expensive. I can't remember the last time I've seen them in a pet store. I only see them now at...

Newts??? I've not seen one, since I got back into aquariums... are they still in the hobby??? anyone have one???

I've kept newts with fish before, but two concerns are water temp (most newts need cooler water than many aquarium fish) & fin nipping. Newts will attempt to bite anything moving that comes near it, which the fish inevitably do. It's possible to do it, but not ideal if you're trying to provide...

Most aquatic newts are toxic and shouldn't generally be kept with fish, although the toxicity usually is only a factor if ingested.
