I will try out the fish and egg listings. I found Jehmco years ago. I have a linear air pump from them that has served me for many years. As I have mentioned, I tried to join my local clubs but they only communicate through Facebook and I will have nothing to do with Facebook or Meta. I have...

Could you tell me how you "find fish and access to people who make odd things available"?

Interesting is one word for it...I call it extremely unfortunate. The US AKA just sent me their most recent "Journal", in color and encased in a clear, plastic mailer. They appear to be concerned about losing membership but, wouldn't they be better off spending that time and money to secure...

I agree 100%, @GaryE! A new Killi Friend of mine turned me on to these and they will become my favourite (or favorite as they say where I live ;) ). Being a displaced Canadian, I use both spellings and frequently say "eh?) after making a statement . I recently joined the American...

I am new to the "Killifish Fix" mainly due to wanting to down-size the larger fish I have kept along with the larger tank sizes and larger water changes. Just getting old and lazyB-). I have two pair of a. Funge and a trio of steel blue Gardneri that I am conditioning for breeding. These were...

Fluval Hagen filters - Has anyone used them before?

Great post, @MuddyWaters! I have found as well, over the years, that cheap sponge filters are great. I have used Mattens, the "new and improved Aquarium Coop" with all their wiz-bang inventions, Fluval-Hagen, AquaClear, Canisters of all varieties and Under Gravels. Here is my experience...

    Golden, White Cloud Mountain Minnows...

Like @Magnum Man, I prefer the standard color for Long Fins. Some golds are pure, others still show a lot of red and brown so, if you are into them, you may want to bare that in mind. There appears to be some mixing of strains going on without regard to controlled genetics.

anyone ever breed white cloud mountain minnows???

Yes, Dan's are good, "hobbyist raised in Europe". I have some of the same and they are breeding and crossing with some I bought from here in State-Side. Bare in mind, Dan's are probably brothers and sisters which is why I am crossing them with another breeder's fish. You should remove any...

anyone ever breed white cloud mountain minnows???

If they are over 6 months old, they should be mature. As others have said in this thread, they do better in their own tank without snails and hydra. Temps in the low 70s and softer, slightly acid water. IIRC, several years ago, I purchased 6-long finned from an Asian importer. After they...

    Golden, White Cloud Mountain Minnows...

Not really about this variety but, I have two separate lines of long finned that I cross for breeding. One of the lines bred together and, out of 20 fry, one had a curved spine. I do the same for my a. "funge" killifish. I do my best to keep the genes viable...

Fluval Hagen filters - Has anyone used them before?

I cut down double layer greenhouse panels as lids. They are easy to "cut-to-fit" and do reduce noise. I find Aquaclear filters are quiet provide you keep the tank full.
